Dual FullHD 1080p Recording
Dual 1080p Full HD Dashcams
However we advise to make sure your Dashcam can record in Full HD 1080p video both in the front and the rear of your vehicle.
Almost all dash cams in the market today have Full HD 1080p resolution at least for the front camera.
But what about the rear camera resolution ? Quite often the rear camera resolution is overlooked and this means inadequate video quality on the rear camera.
Full HD Video Recording in both Front+Rear
Selecting a Dashcam with FullHD Video in both Front and Rear ensures you have high resolution footage all round in case of an accident. The higher the resolution of the rear camera, the clearer the footage especially for picking up number plate details and in low light conditions.
Dashcam video resolutions is one of the most important yet confusing specifications to pay attention to, as these will affect the video quality when you need to review road footage.
Good video quality can mean the difference between capturing every single aspect of an incident, or capturing a blurry moment in time.
Dashcam Video Resolutions – HD / Full-HD / 2K / 4K
There are many different dashcam resolutions on the market currently, 720p, 1080p, 2k, and 4k. If you are uncertain of a display’s image resolution based on the product description, look at the specifications to determine the actual image size.
The higher the dashcam video resolution, the clearer the picture. This is important for capturing video in dim light, nighttime, or dusk—or picking up minute details.
HD or 720p
The term HD when it comes to dashcams usually refers to standard high definition, or 720p. This shouldn’t be confused with the term “Full HD” (full high definition 1080p) because HD may be incorrectly used interchangeably with Full HD to describe a camera’s resolution but it isn’t actually so.
Full HD or 1080p
Almost all dash cams in the market today have Full HD 1080p resolution. Although 1080p devices have been around for many years now, it remains the industry standard for many video or display devices.
1080P, while being excellent picture quality, remains the baseline resolution we would recommend in dashcams, especially the rear camera. Do note, 2k and 4k displays offer a sharper, clearer image than 1080p, that allows for a more robust capture. Hence you if have an option to go even higher in terms of video spec, you may definitely consider it.
